Divinely inspired after the loss of my son Brett, these colorful origami butterflies offer a fluid, moving piece of art that is continually changing and growing.
In Christianity, the butterfly has long been a symbol of the resurrection of Christ as well as the resurrection of believers. The Japanese view butterflies as souls of the living and the dead and are considered symbols of joy & longevity. To Native Americans, the butterfly is a symbol of change, joy, and color. It is a symbol of life and hope.
The journey of transformation the butterfly symbolizes requires going deep into the cocoon of our hearts and letting all fears and old wounds be released one by one, so that transformation can take place. In the cocoon you experience release and the freedom from what has held you back. You begin to see new possibilities, new ways of being, you feel the rapture of being totally set free. This is a message of what is possible in our own lives, of going beyond what we believe possible--to making the impossible a reality.
We invite you to choose a handmade butterfly and to write a little note, or wish, or prayer and place it on the wall. Together let's support one another in our brokenness while honoring the sacredness of each of our journeys.
